Topic declaration : February 27, 2010
Hi, we are back with a new edition of Blog-a-Ton.
But first, it is the time to welcome the bloggers who have joined us and will be hopefully participating this time-
- Rakesh Guha
- Aditya (Please provide a bloglink to be blogrolled)
- Tomz
- Mea Culpa
- Parth
- Chanakya Grover (OK, now thats my bro. Visit his blog to read some cool movie reviews)
- Mehak
- Vicious
- Deepak (Please provide a bloglink to be blogrolled)
- Keerthana (Please provide a bloglink to be blogrolled)
So with this, I invite your suggestions for the topic for Blog-a-Ton 8. Please keep the following things in mind while suggesting.
- Each member can suggest only one topic.
- The topic should be general in scope, so that more and more Blog-a-Tonics can participate.
- Before suggesting, go through the previous ones for sure.
- If you like any of those, VOTE for them rather than giving a new suggestion.
- If you like a suggested topic but don't like the wordings, still VOTE for it and alongside suggest a new title for it.
- In case you have already suggested a topic but find some subsequent suggestion better than yours, you are allowed to vote for it. But this can be done only once.
- Rather than criticising the suggestions made by others, kindly give better suggestions.
- Give your suggestions and votes in the comments section of this post.
- Do not embolden your comment using HTML bold tag.
- Please keep these points in mind to make my job easier.
Hoping to receive some interesting suggestions

hey as I mentioned on the BAT page on FB... why dont we have a genre this time instead of a topic... we will decide the genre depending on the max votes and every one writes on that... wat say
ReplyDeleteguys??
Cheers!
Tavish
Latest Blog post: Desperation
sure.. Genre is a good idea.
ReplyDeleteMy choice would be: "Lunacy"
our debate/relay topic is still pending..!!
ReplyDeleteSo here i suggest a topic to shake the world..well..quite so...imagine if we write abt this what message we wil be sending out..for debate IN INDIA i couldnt think of anything better..
"IS INDIA GAYME FOR THIS?" (read: is India game for this)
(or a modified name..)
we have seen the reach of blog-a-ton...its time to use it now..
Since everybody everywhere has been talking about the reducing numbers of our national animal I believe we should all write on 'the Tiger'! ..Writing anything involving and rotating around the subject..we'll all be making a major contribution towards taking the conservation of the animal a rung higher, considering how popular Blog-a-ton is getting lately!
ReplyDeleteWhat say guys?
haan yes...tiger is a good idea... not tiger woods...on saving the tiger...o_O
ReplyDeleteI would like that too
ReplyDeletebut tigers in woods, not in cages....
@Tavish.. we did discuss about using a category rather than a specific topic, and people wanted to continue with the original format.. so sorry, we cant go with it.
ReplyDelete@Narendra.. I had detailed discussions with Sojo b4 Blog-a-Ton 7 but found many short comings in the plan.. told him 2 write a detailed post about the format so tht i cn post it here for discussion bt nvr heard frm him wirh regards to it..
@Vibhuti.. Tiger?? Hmmm.. will we really b able 2 save tigers by writing on our blogs.. i am apprehensive! (sorry, i broke my own rule by questioning this topic)
Friends, please keep the topic general in nature in which maximum ppl hav conviction 2 write..
Hi... this is my first suggestion to this blog ever... so wouldn't know if I'm on the right track. I'd love to read and write about street-side food - whether it belongs to your own city, or elsewhere...
ReplyDeleteHow about 'Twillight' as a topic? (No, not the book, the time of the day)
ReplyDeleteHi Vipul,
ReplyDeletejust dropped in from Rashi's blog..
I like this space. I'll be participating in March for sure.
Starting to follow the space right now! :)

Latest Blog Post: The face I once knew
I like the idea "the tiger". @Vipul: it's not that we will protecting them. It's more about creating the awareness. We can do whatever we can to create the awareness atleast.
ReplyDeleteI like "the Tiger".
ReplyDeleteWhat about the topic "Time Travel"? One can write either on the future or the past and it will also give us interesting posts to read...
ReplyDeleteI was thinking on the lines that it just might bring about an increased awareness. Sadly this is also the international year of the Tiger and reports of poaching cases continue to come in! India has lost 4 more tigers at the beginning itself...:(
ReplyDeleteWell, friends ofcourse we'll go with the majority vote.. What I think about a particular topic doesn't matter.. Keep pouring in your suggestions and voting :)
ReplyDelete@Vibhuti.. I was not questioning your conviction.. If we can make a differnece through this platform, I'll be the most contented person.. Cheers :)
ReplyDeleteLast time I proposed "I SEE A CHANGE". It couldn't click.
ReplyDeleteThis time I say "SMILE" as my choice.
A Smile on your love's/poor children/socially deprived/Malnurished/(that cub tiger in the Ad) or anybody's face, which we could hope to bring it upon..
Hi, the link to my blog is "http://deepuiz.blogspot.com" . I like the idea of "Time Travel" Many interesting fictional stories can be spun around it i guess :)
ReplyDeleteI am comfortable with the topic "The Tiger" as long as we are allowed to interpret it 'our' way (Tiger Woods/ Tiger poaching/ Save Tiger/ Tiger watches etc...)... If the idea to promote the "Save Tiger' campaign, then I care two (in fact, three) hoots.... :-)
ReplyDeleteTalking Skull's last blog: The Amma-Appa Travails
Well, honestlyI find the "Time Travel" suggesiton really interesting. But we can make it more specific (so as to put research into it also) like "Imagine you were transported to the year 2050, Location: Some Indian city, Time: Your Wish", now THINK!!!
ReplyDeleteI roar for "Tiger"
ReplyDeleteAm new here, but have read Blog-a-ton topics in other blogs I read...
ReplyDeleteI would suggest to leave the topic to the bloggers.. just ensure that it is a story.. It would atleast help bloggers new to writing...
I second Mea Culpa. "Twilight" is a better topic.
ReplyDeleteOne can write a short story, 55er, poetry, or a personal experience on 'Twilight'. This topic has more liberty compared to 'Tigers'.
I vote for Time Travel
ReplyDeleteI had commented earlier but had missed out to say this is Deepak, the newly joined. You had asked to provide a bloglink to be blogrolled. My bloglink is http://deepuiz.blogspot.com. Would this info be fine and enough ?
ReplyDeleteYeah.. 'Time Travel' is a cool topic. I vote for it. As IIM Ka Sarkari Babu mentioned, this topic should be more specific in nature.
ReplyDeleteMy vote goes to time travel too
ReplyDeleteHi Vipul,
ReplyDeletejust dropped in from Rashi's blog..
I like this space. I'll be participating in March for sure.
Starting to follow the space right now! :)
I'd given a comment earlier with my old pen name, but no reply from you! :) so just givin another buzz...

(formerly The Amateur Poet)
Yeah Deepak that will be fine.. You will be blogrolled soon..
ReplyDeleteHi, Leo, welcome to Blog-a-Ton.. I hope u hav a gr8 experience here :)
Suggestions till now :
ReplyDeleteS.No. Topic - Suggested by - Total votes
1. Time Travel - Debosmita - 6
2. The Tiger - Vibhuti - 6
3. Twilight - Mea Culpa - 2
4. Lunacy - Aneet - 1
5. Is India Game for this? - Narendra - 1
6. Smile - Zubair - 1
7. Street Side Food - Meghana - 1
Please vote for these topics rather than suggesting new ones at this point of time..
I am with Debosmita,,,Time travel.
ReplyDeleteI am damn sure....all here are much aware about
ReplyDeleteTIGER topic.
It would be better if some one can act now..and what ever we are doing blog writing and ..how it would stop tiger extinction???
Poacher are on the all time high... rangers god knows what they are doing??
what is the relevancy of topic "TIGER" ???
I liked Narendra's Topic too.
ReplyDeletevipul you screwed the spelling of my topic...its GAYME...not game..i said read game...oka!!!!please..the meaning should not be altered(i mean thats at least what i meant)
ReplyDeleteit is revolving around Gay rights!
hmm.. i go with time travel too! :)
ReplyDeleteWell... Reagrding the topic TIGER....
ReplyDeleteIt isn't as mundane as some of you pointed out. Don't limit your thinking to the animal tiger...
Tiger can be interpreted as: Tiger Menon/ Dawood, Bal Thakarey, Shiv Sena, LTTE/ Prabhakaran and a few more....
I gave away the threads of what I was planning to write... (would've suited my genre of writing)nevertheless... the majority wins.... ...and time travel is also a good topic.... :-)
well my vote still is with my topic..but to broaden the spectrum of possibilities with tiger i want to add to what Talking Skull suggested...there was a tiger in the INA(Indian national army aka azad Hind Fauz) too...if we can write about it too then it will be a tribute to Netaji too!
ReplyDeleteand needless to mention at the end of the post you can always add the save tiger concern...
All topics up here have the makings of an eighth grade essay from a final exam!
ReplyDelete@ Aneet
ReplyDeleteIncluding yours? :P
hey, i vote for the 'twilight' topic.
ReplyDeleteYou know something?
ReplyDeleteThis "Save the Tiger" is initiated by WWF but not that Aircel has sponsored it, this topic is gaining awareness. We cannot go and save them, but if we take a platform like blog-a-ton and cultivate it to try to create awareness, this could be just fine.
Can this be done?
I vote for Tiger fr now and yes time Travel for next blog-a-ton!
Both topic 1. and 2. sound great, but I'll go for 'The Tiger'
ReplyDeleteI agree that this might be a good platform to spread awareness about the tiger cause, but it would also make the topic extremely limiting.. which isnt very much like Blog-A-ton. BAT is a cause in itself. So in the spirit of BAT I would prefer to have a wider topic. Others may prefer to differ. I respect their opinions. I am not against the tiger cause. Indeed I have joined the roar myself and done my bit by blogging about it (already). Therefore personally as well it wont be a good topic for me (and many other bloggers who have already taken up the cause).
ReplyDeleteI vote for:- Twilight!!
You can vote for only the following topics now, the three which are leading the race:
ReplyDeleteS.No. Topic - Suggested by - Total votes
1. Time Travel - Debosmita - 8
2. The Tiger - Vibhuti - 8
3. Twilight - Mea Culpa - 4
Hey Aneet we'll be really thankful if in the next blog-a-ton, you could provide us with a topic eligible for Doctoral Dissertation instead.. :p
ReplyDelete@All
ReplyDeleteThis stuff on "simple/ mundane/ boring topic" crops up everytime...
Some things always look simple on the surface, but have an insightful irony hiding underneath.
For example, if I tell you that the Pope visited Africa, it will sound too mundane to be mentioned... But, scratch the surface.... The Pope went to Africa, a continent most ravaged by Aids, to tell them that they should AVOID condoms!! Intriguing now, isn't it...
We have enough guys/gals around to make even Ishant Sharma's batting seem interesting.. Period.
BTW, Dear Marshall: I am switching over and casting my vote for "Time Travel".... :-)
Hope that generates enough noise in the comments section....
Hi All,
ReplyDeleteMy suggestion would be "SAVE OUR TIGERS" or else as already suggested "The Tiger"
I VOTE for it :-)
Yours Frendly,
Saravana Kumar M
Tiger :)
ReplyDeleteTime Travel lookes interesting.. Looking forward to participate this time finally.

ReplyDeleteI, too, vote for Time Travel
ReplyDeleteI vote for "Twilight" :)
ReplyDeleteMy vote for 'Time Travel' too :)

ReplyDeleteHi Ms. Blogger.. yup once u strt following, u r a member and cn participate.. so welcome aboard :)
ReplyDelete@Talking Skull.. Well said buddy.. as for ur vote, as per rules, only the one who hs suggstd a topic cn change his/her preference.. so ur choice remains the same.. in case of a tie, however, ur change in stance will cum handy :)
Time Travel will be fine :)
ReplyDeleteI vote for time travel

my vote goes to time travel
@talking Skull... very well said buddy... agree a 100%
ReplyDeletebtw looks like time travel seems to be the favorite... ;)
@Karthik: Yes including mine! :G
ReplyDelete@Vipul: I did.. try to get a doctoral dissertation-ly blog-a-ton attempt a few months ago but an 8th grade essay won. I am very mean that way! :@
I can't believe this voting has become so hotly contested! 65 comments already?! and that too, one in foreign language! ;)
ReplyDeleteKeeping my fingers crossed about my topic ;) [in true politician style]
So think new people, topics like "Tiger" may sound cool, be it be the "Royal Bengal Tiger" or "Tiger Woods" but it's no use once after the topic is decided and the posts turn out to be boring. Selection of a good topic IS the most imporant part of the event.
ReplyDeleteI see that Aneet has suggested the topic "Lunacy" which is quite good actually.
Instead of taking up topics on hot topics, selecting abstract topics gives the reader a better chance to analyze the author's perspective.
I vote for Lunacy!
how do we vote or suggest?
ReplyDeletejust by commenting here or there is some separate page?
@Rahul: u just need to comment here with ur chice to vote.... :)
ReplyDelete@Debosmita
ReplyDeleteActually the comment in the foreign language is spam... I've had the exact er er ... syllables (?) on my blog quite often.
@Aneet.. well, buddy this event is meant for mango men (and women) like us or as they say the aam aadmi.. nd well, ur attempt was definitely praise-worthy and um sure by doing tht more thn votes, u got a the satisfaction of writing it..
ReplyDelete@Aneet - of course, I undertood that :-O that was just a joke!!!
ReplyDeleteYayy! looks like I am becoming an expert on suggesting Blog-a-ton topics ;)
All the best guys!
