Lets Catch the Escapist No. 1

Voting gets over at 23:00 hrs (IST) on May 7, 2010. Remember, that means time stamp of your comment can be at most 22:59 and not 23:00.

Let us welcome the new Blog-a-Tonics before proceeding further
You all will be blogrolled soon!

Click here to check the fellow Blog-a-Tonics who took part in this Blog-a-Ton along with the direct links to their posts.

In this edition, 60 entries came in from 58 blog-a-tonics within the stipulated time.

And it is a steep rise from the last time's 35. Way to go!!!

Its all thanks to the blog-a-tonics like Guria, Leo and many others (sorry for missing out your names) who pestered and pushed their fellow bloggers to participate this time. So three cheers for the whole community!

Please follow the following rules while voting. Those who did not participate last time, please read the rules carefully as there have been some important changes introduced in the last edition.

1. You can cast upto 3 votes and of course you can not vote for yourself.
This time you are allowed to vote for more than one entry but the maximum votes you can give are three. All your votes will carry the same weightage.

2. Your Voting Comment should start as follows:

In case you participated -

I vote for -
1. XYZ; his/her post = http://ABC/xyz.html
2. DEF; his/her post = http://LMN/def.html
3. PQR; his/her post = http://RST/pqr.html

Code:
I participated - <a href="YOUR POST LINK">YOUR POST LINK</a>
I vote for -
1. NAME OF THE FIRST BLOGATONIC YOU VOTE FOR; his/her postlink = <a href="HIS/HER POST LINK">HIS/HER POST LINK</a>
2. NAME OF THE SECOND BLOGATONIC YOU VOTE FOR; his/her postlink = <a href="HIS/HER POST LINK">HIS/HER POST LINK</a>
3. NAME OF THE THIRD BLOGATONIC YOU VOTE FOR; his/her postlink = <a href="HIS/HER POST LINK">HIS/HER POST LINK</a>

In case you did not participate -

I did not participate but I am blogrolled by the name of Vipul Grover.
I vote for -
1. XYZ; his/her post = http://ABC/xyz.html
2. DEF; his/her post = http://LMN/def.html
3. PQR; his/her post = http://RST/pqr.html

Code:
I did not participate but I am blogrolled by the name of YOUR NAME ON OUR BLOGROLL.

Replace the parameters highlighted in red with their actual values.

Remove the extra code in case you are voting for less than three entries.

Remember, in case you participated, your vote will be counted as 1 and in case you didn't, then it will just carry the 1/2 value.

All your votes, one or two or three will carry this same weightage.

Hence, do not forget to give your post link or blogrolled name (whichever is applicable as clearly visible in the above code) as it will decide whether your vote is counted as 1 or 1/2 in value.

3. While voting for a Blog-a-Tonic, use his/her name as provided by him/her in his/her participation entry.
Multiple names of same person makes it troublesome for me while compiling the results.

 4. All your votes should be posted in a single comment. So, take your time - go through all posts - only then decide your one or two or three favourites.
In case you vote separately, only the first comment will be taken into consideration.

5.  Post your vote in the comments section of this post.

6.  The Blog-a-Tonics astrosunilnomy and Blinzy  have posted the correct link to their posts after the stipulated time. Earlier, they had posted wrong links. Consider them for voting too.

Now coming to the other rules:
  • Voting ends at  2300 hrs (IST) on  May 7, 2010.
  • I have started moderating the comments and won’t display the voting comments till the end of this process to keep the result secret till its conclusion.
  • After the voting code mentioned above, you may also add the reason, why you voted for a particular post to help others know what you expect as a reader. Moreover, you may also mention the other posts that you liked though you can vote for just one of them.
  • In case of multiple entries by any blog-a-tonic, all his/her entries will be evaluated individually while deciding BATOM, i.e., the award will go to a post rather than the blogger.
The Votes will be discarded without any prior warning in case they are not sufficiently compatible with the rules.

So, if there is any query about voting or you do not find yourself blogrolled, feel free to drop in a mail. I'll try to get back to you asap.

Remember, the time stamp of your comment can be at most 22:59 and not 23:00 on May 7.

Hoping to see similar participation in voting too

  1. I, Leo, participated. My escapes can be found at
    Escape 1
    Escape 2

Well, before I say anything else, I must say I'm over the moon with the reaction to my suggestion "Escape".

Thanks to each and every one who participated & other blog-a-tonics who encouraged the writers even without "escaping"! :)

I read every post. And I found a lot of them put in their efforts 200% and which makes my vote even more difficult.

I wish I could vote for myself too, because all these brilliant writes, scares me to think I might not get one also! :D just kidding. i hope i do get one though! :)

From the posts I'm leaving out of my vote, I really liked the posts of Demented Actuary, Karan, A Dreamy Gal, Vibhuthi, Rachana, The Fool, Avada, Ravan and Psych Babbler...

I wish I could vote for more than 3.. But I guess that'd disqualify my vote.. So here goes my vote.

I vote, in no particular order, for the dudette & dudes below:

    1. Rajlakshmi : Her Escape
I vote for her because I liked her creativity in presentation. Her words were beautiful and the picures completed the post aptly.

    2. Karthik : His Escape
I vote for him because his post, no matter how long, always keeps me engrossed. This time was no different. Thanks!

    3. Vipul : His Escape
I vote for him because he took something which is very common, esp. in India, and wove his tale beautifully. Wonderful work.

Thanks once again, to all writers and reader blog-a-tonics. Looking forward to future BATs like this.

    Leo.

    2. Vibhuti; his/her postlink = http://klishmaklaver.blogspot.com/2010/05/escape.html
    3. Meghana; his/her postlink = http://megzone.wordpress.com/2010/05/01/escape/

Leo because the topic was dealt with in a mature manner. It'll help create awareness about child abuse which is prevalent all over the world and needs immediate attention. Liked the ending of the story too.

Vibhuti because it came straight from the heart, very truthful and poignant. A heart wrenching story where you feel one with the narrator and literally SIGH at the end when she finds solace. Excellent Narration of a True Story.

Meghana because she was one of the few who has handled this topic with a touch of Humor. Very Different and Unusual Ending.

I feel Gyanban deserves my first and immediate vote for his awesomely detailed, research based superb narration.
And Karthik & Saro have yet again churned out very very creative and 'out-of-the-box' takes on the same subject..

I feel the need to mention Rumya's post- http://rumyabhatt.blogspot.com/2010/05/escape.html
Shes one of the newest and youngest blogatonics and has submitted a very witty angle on what most of us wrote very seriously about...:D

I wish to say sorry for posting a tear-jerker this time (as most have made :( long faces at my post!)..:(

I loved Leo's story. The entire narration was beautiful and heart touching.

    2. The Fool; his/her postlink = HIS/HER POST LINK

A long story but still kept me gripped till the end and even yearning for more. The flow of the story throughout was entertaining. And a very different outlook towards escape.

Somehow I felt Prose and poems did more justice to ESCAPE, and I voted for the posts, I could relate to. Leaving out two posts, (which were actually DUMB and LAME) I liked all of them.

Beyond this voting was Guria's 'Escape', she is a STORY-TELLER in the making. She has marvelous ways of captivating the readers till the last letter. You have got a reader in me, for life .. Well done!! :)

    2. Gyanban; his/her post = http://www.gyanban.com/2010/04/papillion.html

    3. Pawan; his/her post = http://m4maruvada.blogspot.com/2010/05/escape.html

    - I read the story and I thought it was good. Then I kept thinking about it, and I realized it was very good. Then I had to vote and I wanted to re read my favorites. I'd forgotten your name and blog address, but i remembered the story and spent a good ten mins tracing my steps to find your name to vote for you and that was when I realised your post was really really really good. Good job :)

    The Painter
    Tikuli and Chatterbox

And Vipul, thanks for the mention but you already know, Blog-a-Ton is more of a family to me, a get-together of sorts that luckily comes every month! Winning is so seconadry to the bond that we forge by reading each other, discovering each other! So all kudos to you Marshal! Now, now don't preen! ;) :D

The first choice is obviously Karthik for his unique story line and it's near perfect execution.
I would have voted for Guria if hadn't read Karthik's post (which is the last post I've read). Guria executed a story in my favorite genre, psychological horror in an apt manner, interlaced with good imagery it can blow out the brains of Adrian Lyne too :)

And lastly, Nethra for her psychotic thriller with an "Odishon' like lady killer torturing a guy to death. Well, another story in my favorite genre too :)

Hope the best man wins :)

  37. Mahesh mailed me his votes as he was having troubles commenting here -

He participated and voted for - Geeta, Mehak and Brijender.

    He writes-
    --
*** It was a tough call between Avada(Story), Netra(Visual impact) , Brijender, and Rachana(Philosophical) for the third slot.
The line from Brijender's post 'If you think you are free, there is no escape possible!' made all the difference.
*** If I have a choice to vote for the best story among the stories of escape, i would go for Avada Kedavra's post. Very touching narration.
*** Though Mehak's and Brijender's posts are in the same domain, their treatment deserved two distinct votes.

--> When I read Geeta's post, I had decided unanimously to vote her post. Very simple and honest post but it conveyed unsaid agony and lessons of life. What made me to lean towards the post is the two lines
".....This is how I escape from hunger,
but never thought of escaping from life...." which spoke volumes on behalf of millions of people living in destitution.
--> Mehak post was honest, pragmatic, involving, true, evolving, contemporary and most appropriate to the topic . Void of thesis. No prescriptions. only streaming description.
--> Brijender's post was fresh, rational, and intriguing in some aspects of life which has thrown new dimensions on my thinking ....
--> I have thoroughly enjoyed Dhiman's Irrational Escape, Leo's Gripping escape, Saurav's Comprehensive escape, Sid's Graphical escape, Psych Babbler's freedom escape, Pawan,s anomalous escape, Karthik's Gods escape, Sunil's realistic escape

--> A Biggggggg thanks to Vipul and Leo for providing me to have this wonderful feast of experiencing various flavors of Escapes. :)
