Blog-a-Tonics have overwhelmingly voted for If I were a baby again as the topic for Blog-a-Ton 4. I must congratulate Daisy Blue for suggesting this - as she puts it , a - fun topic. Lets see how everyone perceives it.

While dealing with the topic, you have the freedom to treat it the way you want. Its upto you; which genre of writing you choose, i.e. simple essay-type, article, dialogue, short story (even 55 Fiction for that matter), poem or whatever you feel like.

Moreover, its upto you; which mood or tone you choose to set it in, i.e. serious, witty, humour, optimistic or whatever that comes to you naturally.

Again, you have the freedom to choose the language of communication. However, we'll suggest you to write in English to put across your views to the maximum members which will also help you when its the time to vote for the BATOM.

I hope this clarification helps the new Blog-a-Tonics.

So, you all have ample time to write it but you'll have to wait till Nov 7 to post it finally along with everyone else.

Other rules regarding posting will be conveyed to you later.

P.S. There is an important discussion that is taking place in the comments section of the previous post. It pertains to the voting procedure to elect the Blog-a-Tonic of the Month. The question is whether non-participanting Blog-a-Tonics be allowed to vote.

    We have three options -
    a) No voting rights for non-participants
    b) 1/2 vote for them
    c) Full vote for them just like the participants

Do take your stand on this issue. Those who have already voted, again vote in the comments section of this post to make your stand more visible.

Wishing you all, a free flow of thoughts
    Blog-a-Tonically yours

    1. My thoughts on voting: I think half voting rights seem reasonable for those who aren't members. No voting rights seems to rob the spirt of what we are striving to achieve here in terms of growing more visibility into our blogs.

My thoughts on If I were a Baby Again: I think this is a very nice theme. All the best to all my fellow bloggers! Enjoy and get the creative sparks coming forth!

    2. All Followers are members and they should be given full voting rights and if someone wants to vote the can always become a follower.

    4. we can give full voting rights to non-participants too.. But under one condition....

they should have participated atleast once in blog-a-ton before...I mean in the previous three editions.
New members who have joined blog-a-ton recently can vote if they participate in this edition. Non-participants can be given half-votes.

    7. I would like to have full vote to all followers - whether they are participating or not. To allow only participants to vote is like asking any cricket commentator to play the tests/ODIs first. One can be a good commentator but bad player. I might not be a good writer, does not mean I do not have the capacity to appreciate what is good.
My understanding about Blog-a-Ton is 'writing together' which matters most. Only one will win (or there could be joint winners) no matter who votes. After all democracy has its drawbacks! Yes, 'popular'bloggers would/might win, but it is ok. Don't we have governments who fetch only 40% votes? They too have their strengths. :)

    13. @ Vipul,

    14. looking forward to some interesting posts .... I go for half vote to non-participants

    15. Lets NOT have a vote for this topic and see how that goes... Maybe we'll have people who DON'T take hedonistic pleasure in the number of votes garnered taking part in this installment!

      ReplyDelete
    16. I second aativas(she has pretty much given very logical reasons) that ALL Blogatonics should have voting rights irrespective of whether they participate or not and counting a 1/2 vote will complicate matters for you only. so let it be one full vote & we have seen earlier that even participants don't vote so it won't matter much...

      ReplyDelete
    17. Let us say people have 1/2 a vote if they don't participate and still are members of blog-a-ton. I think that is fair enough.

@ Aneet - Blogging is about such silly pleasures. Who doesn't count the number of comments and the number of votes and the number of hits? Who doesn't get excited when comments and hits pour in?

      ReplyDelete
    18. I think blog-a-ton is about more people participating. I support the idea of 1/2 a vote to non-participants hoping that it might nudge them to participate.

    19. nice topic, i am hoping for some really funy posts..happy writing to all

i would suggest no voting right for non particiant, bcoz he would not bear to read all the submitted posts...

plus i would also like to suggest one thing, that there should be some special treatment to the BATOM of previous month, in the voting procedure

      ReplyDelete
    20. @Mahesh.. Ofcourse u can!! Looking fwd 2 ur post on 7th :)

      ReplyDelete
    21. I support for 1/2 vote by non-participants :)

      ReplyDelete
    22. I hope that whole idea is to persuade bloggers to be visible here...and leave their active presence.

Snatching voting wont help ...Even it may make non participants feel as they are not blog a tonics.

Even they are not participating ...they are reading the blogs and it enough to make them eligible for voting.

(i am assuming ..that no one vote with even reading the content.?? do they?)

So I go for full vote.

topic is nice, and i hope feeling it from many different perspective gonna be nicer.

    23. @Vipul

You should declare a mini Blog-a-ton about Who Can Vote

      ReplyDelete
    24. only those who participate should be able to vote....it becomes easier...that way...in the long run

    26. 1/2 vote for non-participants.

Whatever I had to say Sojo sait it already and succinctly at that. :-)

    27. Yipee my topic won :) !!
As far as the voting is concerned, I would like to give full vote for non participants .. they are actually going through each post to cast their vote.. isnt that sufficient for us?
There is no election in this world, which allows only the candidates to vote :)

      ReplyDelete
    28. I will advocate for "full" voting rights for even non-participants. One may not participate for a lot of reasons - not comfortable with the theme, no time to post, missed deadline for some reason etc etc. This should not make them any less blog-a-tonics.

      ReplyDelete
    29. WOW i thought i was only one backing the full VOTE for non-participants thing...YAY..i am so happy...

    31. hey there, Ankit Mishra (the newest in the list of members) here...Plz change my blog link to http://thefreehit.com from http://blogger.com (WHAT?? Yeah!)...as linked to from this post...and future blogroll...

      About the voting rights:
I am a noobie here, but I feel the half vote is a fair call, as a trial...I am not sure if lobbying takes place though....

    32. Hey Vipul,
I just read your post "http://blog-a-ton.blogspot.com/2009/11/rules-and-reminders-for-blog-ton-4.html"
It doesnt have my name over there as new blog-a-tonic. Also I dont find my name on the bloglist over here!!
But my name does exist in this post as a new participant!
Am a little confused! Am I a blog-a-tonic or not??
Am I allowed to participate or not????
      :-(

    36. Vipul,
      Per the insruction, i see

Return on Nov 8 to vote for your favourite post. A separate notification for the same will be posted upon the conclusion of the event. So do not vote till then. Till then just enjoy reading the various entries, keeping in mind your favourite one.

Do we have only till end of day tomorrow - NOV-8 to vote ? I'm fine but just confirming I read that right :-)

Also any decision on participant vs. non-participants votes -- 1/2 vs. Full vote thing.. ?

All the best all ! Great effort..
